Salon offers unique family experience
Cuts N Curls features child and adult cuts,
games, toys, parties & more

 Cuts N Curls is the new “it” place for Northeast Ohio families to get their hair cut, shop and get their party on.
The Solon salon began five years ago as a kids-only hair cutter. At the time, owner Deborah Gideon set out to build a brand that would captivate kids’ imaginations and create an experience the entire family would enjoy. She succeeded, and then some.
Gideon is tapping into an unmet need of hurried moms and dads. The store is staffed with high-end stylists yet charges family-friendly prices. Most of the products used and sold are environmentally sound. The store also allows parents to go double duty by offering unique toys and apparel so they can shop for cool gifts while their kids get styled. Even more, Gideon has established an environment where parents can relax and kids can have fun, making the store much more than a place to run an errand. It’s become a family destination.
“It’s really bright and sunny in here. You walk in and you can’t help but feel happy. You can come in your sweats and get your hair done. It’s a salon of today. You don’t need all the pretense and to get overcharged for services and products,” she says.
Gideon says the shop’s mom and dad clientele has grown considerably as parents realize that they too can get their hair cut by the kids’ top-notch stylists, but do so at about one-third the price of a regular salon. They don’t need a sitter either as their children are happy playing in the shop.
Play they do. There’s a train table, basketball goals, skeeball and more that occupy kids’ attention. Even their salon chairs are playful. Kids can get their hair cut in a hot yellow Hummer, Dora the Explorer Jeep, a Nascar race car or a Barbie Mustang. Stylists are even willing to cut hair at the train table. Whatever works best. By the way, how does chocolate or banana shampoo sound? Seriously, the kids won’t want to leave. Even teens who sit in standard salon chairs indulge as they dive into video games, movies and TV shows while they get styled.
Gideon gives her staff kudos for their work. “They are so patient and really know how to talk to kids. It is so much harder to cut kids hair than adults. They go above and beyond,” she says.
The dynamic experience has allowed Cuts N Curls to expand into the birthday party business. They offer three party packages: A Day at the Spa, Royal Treatment and Junior Dudes. Gideon says the birthdays are a bash and parents like that they can relax and enjoy the party.
“It’s important to enjoy your family and to create memorable, lasting experiences with your kids. We want to make your life easier, to take stress out of your day. I think that’s important,” says Gideon.
